Schaffer selected to receive alumni scholarship

ATHENS — Jennifer Christine Schaffer has been selected to receive the East Georgia CAES Alumni Chapter Scholarship awarded by the University of Georgia College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences for the 2009-10 academic year. Each year the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences awards scholarships to students totaling more than $100,000.

Schaffer is a freshman majoring in animal health at the University of Georgia College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences.  She graduated from Effingham County High School. She received the Georgia Certificate of Merit, highest GPA for varsity soccer and Young Author Winner during her high school career. While in high school she was involved with varsity soccer, Rebel Regiment color guard, Tri-M and Calculus club. Schaffer aspires to become a veterinarian specializing in zoological medicine.

She is the daughter of Ed and Mary Kay Schaffer of Guyton.
