South Effingham Middle School celebrated its 2007-2008 homecoming on Dec. 12 during their last home basketball game. Students were invited to stay after school for the basketball games against Screven County Middle School and a homecoming dance after the games. Both the girls and boys teams defeated Screven County. The girls won 30-25 and and the boys won 39-38.

The homecoming representatives were presented between the girls’ and boys’ games and the queen and her court being crowned: sixth grade princess - Caroline Graham; seventh grade princess - Molly Carter; eighth grade second runner-up - Tabitha Weiand; first runner-up - Courtney Jenkins; homecoming queen - Beverly Williams.
