The “Y” Club from South Effingham Middle School participated in the annual SE District “Y” Club basketball tournament held in Statesboro on Jan. 29 and finished the day undefeated, taking the first place trophy.

Through their participation in the tournament, the students were encouraged to follow certain guidelines which stress the values we should all work to maintain and achieve as we participate in sports activities: respect yourself, respect the other team, keep winning in perspective, cooperate with the officials, build your team and develop a “winning attitude.”

The SEMS Y-Club Team took the court eager to show good sportsmanship and support of all Y-Club Programs. With hard work and determination, they finished the day undefeated and came home with the first place trophy.
