Rincon UMC to host Holy Week services

Rincon United Methodist Church will host the annual Rincon Community Holy Week Services, April 2-6,. Services begin at 12:05 and conclude at 12:30 p.m. each day, followed by a light lunch in the church social hall.

This year’s theme is "Seven Last Words from the Cross." Below is the schedule of guest preachers and musicians:

Monday, April 2: Rev. Chance Ward, Goshen Rd. United Methodist Church: "Father, forgive them" and "Today you will be with Me in paradise" (Luke 23:34, 43). Music: Lewis Miles, Faith Presbyterian Church.

Tuesday, April 3: Rev. David Riner, Maranatha Assembly of God: "My God, My God, why have you forsaken me?" (Matthew 27:46). Music: soloist from Maranatha Assembly of God.

Wednesday, April 4: Dr. Bob Rogers, First Baptist Church of Rincon: "Woman, here is your son," and "I’m thirsty." (John 19:26, 28). Music: Greg Hartzog, First Baptist Church of Rincon.

Thursday, April 5: Rev. John Barichivich, Jerusalem Lutheran Church: "It is finished" (John 19:30). Music: Janie and Ralph Long, Rincon United Methodist Church.

Friday, April 6: Rev. Scott Tageson, Rincon First Christian Church: "Father, into Your hands I entrust My spirit" (Luke 23:46). Music: Kevin Carswell, Rincon Church of God.

The public is also invited to the Rincon Community Sunrise Service at 7 a.m. on Easter Sunday, April 8 at Jerusalem Lutheran Church amphitheater at the eastern end of Ebenezer Road near the Savannah River. Park at the church and follow the luminaries down the hill. The sermon will be by Rev. Carol Morgan, pastor of Rincon United Methodist Church. Refreshments will be served afterward, and the historic Jerusalem Lutheran Church will be open for visitors.
