Curtis Johns Parker and Eleanor Elizabeth Ashman

Mr. and Mrs. Joseph R. Oliver Jr. of Guyton announce the engagement of their daughter, Eleanor Elizabeth Ashman, to Curtis Johns Parker, son of the Rev. and Mrs. Douglas M. Parker of Springfield. Miss Ashman is also the daughter of Mr. Kenneth M. Ashman of Jacksonville, Fla.

The bride-elect is the maternal granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. J.W. Tuten Sr. of Guyton.  She is the paternal granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Oliveros of Savannah and the late Mr. Robert W. Ashman Sr., of Honolulu, Hawaii. She is a 1999 graduate of Effingham County High School. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in journalism and mass communication in advertising from the University of Georgia where she was also a member of Delta Gamma sorority. She is currently employed as an account manager with Coggins Promotional Advertising in Savannah.

The groom-elect is the maternal grandson of Ms. Anna Fernandez of Indianapolis, Ind.  He is the paternal grandson of Mr. and Mrs. James Benton of Athens and the late Mr. Melvin Parker of Athens. He is a 1997 graduate of Effingham County High School. He earned a Bachelor of Science in education from Toccoa Falls College. He is currently employed as a firefighter with the city of Savannah.

The wedding is planned for Oct. 11, 2008, at Guyton United Methodist Church. Invitations will be mailed.
