SAVANNAH - Hospice Savannah’s 9th annual lecture series explores the responsibility and role of the religious community in responding to family caregivers of loved ones who are disabled, elderly or dealing with dementia.
There will be a lunch and panel discussion for medical professionals on Thursday, a cocktail reception and facilitated conversation for clergy and physicians on Thursday evening, a Grand Rounds at Memorial Health on Friday morning and a community lunch and panel discussion at Mercer School of Medicine on Friday.
The public is invited to attend the lunchtime panel discussion entitled “The Caregiver Crisis and how Religious Communities can Help.”
The panel will be facilitated by Dr. Leisa Easom, Executive Director of the Rosalynn Carter Institute for Caregiving, and will include Rev. Thurmond Tillman of First African Baptist Church, retired U.S. Army and hospice chaplain Jeff Hartman, Congregation Mickve Israel’s Rabbi Robert Haas, Buckingham South’s Executive Director Ms. Rita Slatus, and Sister Donna Marie Coward, pastoral care chaplain for St. Joseph’s/Candler.
The lunch and panel are at noon on Friday in the Mercer Auditorium, 1250 E. 66th Street in Savannah.
