CRETACEOUS PERIOD I would like to start out today with a question: Why walk when you can scoot?

Sure, that question would make an amazing marketing campaign (youre welcome, Razor scooters), but theres an even better question to ask: Why scoot when you can scoot on an incredible mechanical Tyrannosaurus rex powered by an electric drill?

Oh yes, it exists, and your childhood dreams will come true when you watch it in action.

Skilled woodworker Izzy Swan from Think Woodworks built this visually and mechanically impressive machine for his son this summer when "Jurassic World" was on everyone's minds, but the Internet is just now taking full notice.

According to his YouTube "about" page, this fun-loving dad has worked in the rustic furniture business for 20 years. He often made his own machines, jigs and fixtures to help him along the way, a practice that has given him an outside-the-box approach to his work.

Swan indeed puts his money where his mouth is, not only with this T. rex project, but with every single video Ive watched so far on his channel. A clothes-folding machine? Check. A 20-by-20-by-30-inch block that folds out into a table for four? Check. And the hits just keep coming.

In the video, Swan quickly shows how he made the main body of the T. rex, and he shows how he made the mechanical part here. To see more from Swan, visit his YouTube channel or his website. And to see more amazing mechanical creatures, check out these beach walkers from artist Theo Jansen.
