If you’re being shot at and find a pile of watermelons, would it be safe to hide behind them?

This is the somewhat ridiculous — but entertaining — question explored by Gavin Free in the latest Slow Mo Guys video. He attempts to shoot through four watermelons lined up on a table with a rifle, and records it on two slow motion cameras to see if the bullet can be seen slowing down as it passes through each melon.

The video was taken using two Phantom Flex cameras, which captured the watermelon’s destruction at 5,000 and 1,000 frames per second. Free tried three times to make the bullet go through all four watermelons, but only succeeded in getting three to explode.
Previous Slow Mo Guys videos, like one involving a 6-foot-long water balloon, have garnered as many as 60 million views. Other slow motion adventures include setting off a chain reaction of mousetraps and filming dogs jumping for treats.
