The United Way of the Coastal Empire announced totals from it 2010 campaign, “United Way Makes Wishes Come True” Friday, and by Saturday, the Effingham branch raised $309,432, a record-breaking total for the unit.

“We reached our goal four weeks before the end of the campaign,” said Bonnie Dixon, executive director of United Way-Effingham.

As a whole, the UWCE, encompassing Bryan, Chatham, Effingham and Liberty counties, achieved and exceeded its campaign fundraising goal of $8 million by more than $116,000, which campaign chairperson Camille Russo announced at Friday’s victory celebration at the Savannah International Trade and Convention Center.
