SPRINGFIELD — Haley Arnsdorff missed out on one title but gained another in absentia.

Arnsdorff’s Hereford entry in the Junior Heifer Division of Thursday’s 74th Effingham County Fair Lamb and Cattle Show was named grand champion even though she was unable to show it. She was in Columbus with Effingham County’s softball team, whose Elite Eight title run ended after two games.

Arnsdorff’s heifer was shown by Tiffany Pittman.

Guyton Woman Charged with Murder in Husband’s Death

A Guyton woman has been charged with murder in her husband’s death after police found him dead Tuesday at a Pine Street home. Jennifer Underwood was arrested, and authorities said the case remains under investigation.
