Lamar Allen has announced he will seek a third term to the Effingham County Board of Education.  Allen currently represents the 3rd District and also serves as chairman of the school board.

“Times have been real challenging for the past four to five years,” Allen said. “I feel that the BoE has done a great job in balancing the budget without a great number of jobs being lost.”

Allen said that even though the school system has had budget cuts, test scores and graduation rates continue to climb.

“This shows what a great job our administrators and teachers are doing under these trying times,” he said.

Allen also cautioned that the cuts may not be over.

“The state is still not funding they system like they should,” he said. “Therefore, I feel like the job is not finished, and I would like to see it through. The BoE members are a hard-working group. They work well together, making the job a whole lot easier to accomplish.”
