Gussie Nease of the Mars Theatre Project and Wayne Kight, chairman of the Springfield Revitalization Corporation, were guests of the American Legion Post 209 for the purpose of accepting a $1,000 donation from the American Legion to the Mars Theater.

In return, Nease and Kight presented American Legion Post 209 a certificate for a seat in the Mars. Pictured are Vernon Wiggins, Larry Exley, Kight, Nease from the Mars Theatre project, James Sapp and Edwin Exley.

Edwin Exley is one of two charter members still living and is the only active charter member of the American Legion Post 209, organized and chartered in 1946.

Not pictured but in attendance were three of the Ladies Auxiliary members. Kathy Deason, the current president of the Auxiliary, was in attendance, as were Miriam Riggs and Delma Odum.
