As part of BB&T’s fourth annual Lighthouse Project, the BB&T Rincon and Springfield branches chose to help the homeless and displaced school children in Effingham County. There are currently 96 such children in the county.
BB&T worked with Jackie Brown and Erin Woodcock to coordinate the effort and purchase the most-needed items. The bank also partnered with Teach Right in Rincon to get the items at a discounted cost and purchased $1,700 in school supplies and uniforms.
BB&T associates have donated over 150,000 hours in volunteer service and affected the lives of over 5 million people as part of the BB&T Lighthouse Project, since its inception in 2009. Associates overwhelmingly voted to bring back the initiative this year.
