The Effingham Chamber of Commerce is gearing up for the fourth annual Taste of Effingham.

The event, which features local caterers and restaurateurs, will be held March 6 from 5-7 p.m. at the Effingham County Recreation and Parks gym in Springfield.

“It’s something we allow only Effingham County people to be a part of,” said Chamber Executive Director Rick Lott. “It’s been incredible to see the growth and how the community has taken to this. I hear about it for months afterward, even though it’s only two hours long.”

Vendors who take part in the Taste of Effingham are asked to provide samples of their creations for attendees.

“You’re not going to get a full meal,” Lott said. “But between the 15 and 20 booths we have, I haven’t seen anyone go away hungry.”

Local chef Nick Mueller had a scheduling conflict last year but is expected to be on hand this year, Lott added.

“It’s a pretty darn good event,” said Springfield Mayor Barton Alderman. “I would say get there early because it’s always a good crowd.”
