Clyo Youth Chapter named Prince Hall chapter of the year

The Clyo Youth Chapter was presented the chapter of the year award from the Prince Hall Grand Youth Chapter OES, recognized for its documentation of community service projects, workshops, current trends and issues for youth, and also networking with other youth chapters and supporting their events.

“Celebrating 40 Years of Leadership” was the theme of the Grand Youth Session held in Augusta from April 22-23. The Prince Hall Grand Youth Chapter has 41 active youth chapters and 27 chapters participated in the session.

Clyo Youth Chapter also placed first in the Louise Harris Scrapbook Competition. The scrapbook documents community service projects, workshops, current trends and issues for youth; networking with other youth chapters and supporting their events; members’ academic and community achievements.

Ineza Garvin, Grand Youth Assistant Conductress, and Jadelyn Cope, Grand Youth Marshal-East, served efficiently in carrying out their duties as Grand Youth Officers.

Cope was commended for her solo performance “You are Holy.”

Sheree Burns, 2016 graduating senior, was presented with a certificate for her service in the youth chapter.

During the installation of 2016-17 Grand Youth officers, the oath of office was given to newly-elected officers Garvin, grand youth conductress, and Cope, grand youth assistant recordress.

Clyo Youth Chapter expressed its sincere appreciation to those who offer support of its efforts. The Youth Chapter’s motto is “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.” (Phil. 4:13 KJV.) Advisors are: Sister Beverly Scott, youth director; Past Matron Clara Williams, assistant director, and Sister Altena Garvin, worthy matron.
