The Effingham County Chamber of Commerce will hold its monthly membership lunch Jan. 8 with guest speaker Tommy Deadwyler, cultural affairs director for the city of Springfield.

Deadwyler, who has worked with the Fox Theatre Institute, will discuss plans for Springfield’s Mars Theatre. The theatre is projected to open in March.

The event will be held at the Effingham College and Career Academy from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Tickets are $12 for Chamber members and $15 for visitors. For tickets, call the Chamber at 754-3301.
