Effingham Hussars, HES clean up soldiers' resting places

Members of the Historic Effingham Society and Daughters of the Confederacy Effingham Hussars No. 2285 cleaned the Burgstiner Cemetery to remember the Confederate and Revolutionary soldiers buried there.

A Confederate memorial service will be held April 24 at 4 p.m. in the Guyton Cemetery in memory of the 26 soldiers there. Veterans of Effingham County also will be honored. The public is invited to attend and a reception will follow the service.
