Effingham Community Orchestra director Andrea Huff has announced that the orchestra will present its second annual “Our Favorites Concert” on Sept. 23 at 3 p.m. The concert will be held at the Effingham County Recreation and Parks Department gymnasium, 808 Highway 119 South in Springfield. Admission is free.
“The orchestra has been preparing for this concert all year by learning new music and reviewing existing repertoire,” Huff said. “Recently, the musicians voted for the pieces they would like to perform at this concert. Attendees will hear movie and television show themes, well-loved classical pieces, jazz and a few surprises. There will be something for everyone.
“I sincerely believe this ‘Our Favorites Concert’ will delight and amaze our audience. Plan to spend the afternoon with us. Our favorites may just become your favorites.”
Effingham Community Orchestra is a non-profit organization that started five years ago. It has grown to 40 playing musicians who perform free community concerts and at community events throughout the county. The orchestra is funded solely by contributions from the participants and donations from community supporters.
