Fields earns 2009 Webb Scholarship

Shamika Fields of Clyo was awarded the Webb Scholarship in a ceremony at Effingham Hospital on Jan. 2.

Fields is employed at Memorial Health University Medical Center and with the practice of Dr. Romualdo Laygo in Effingham County.

The Webb Scholarship is awarded annually to a person or persons already working in the health care profession so that they may expand their knowledge and improve their career by furthering their education.

The ceremony marked the third annual presentation of the Ray Darwin Webb, M.D. Scholarship, in memory of Dr. Ray Darwin Webb, a founding physician and first medical advisor of Effingham Hospital and Care Center.

Dr. Webb’s wife Mrs. Wilhelmina Webb and daughter Mary Lee Webb were on hand to present the award.
