State Rep. Jon Burns (R-Newington) was honored by Georgia Trend magazine as one of the 100 most influential Georgians at a reception.

Burns is majority leader in the state House of Representatives. The magazine, which released its list in January, wrote "Burns was first elected to Georgia House District 159 in 2004 and was elected majority leader last year. The Effingham County native has his work cut out for him this session, which will see the return of some of the same issues we’ve encountered the past few years – medical marijuana, religious liberty and transportation."
