Swimmers from the Effingham YMCA swim team held a swimathon last Wednesday, all in an effort to raise money for the Y’s LIveStrong program.
Swimmers taking part in the Swim Strong event had to take laps in the Y pool for 30 minutes nonstop. The goal was to raise $4,000 and sponsor eight cancer survivors in the LiveStrong program. T-shirt sales proceeds also went toward the effort. Thirty-three swimmers took part in the event.
