Jenkins honored as firefighter educator of the year

The Georgia State Firefighters Association named Effingham County Fire and Rescue Lt. Hannah Jenkins as the 2013 educator of the year.

Jenkins was presented the award Tuesday by Gov. Nathan Deal at the 42nd annual Firefighters Recognition Day at the state Capitol.

Lt. Jenkins has been a firefighter with Effingham County since 2001 and she was recognized for her work in fire prevention and life safety education in the public and private sectors.
