Mike Murphy, Effingham Health environment of care manager and disaster preparedness coordinator, was presented the Champion of Emergency Preparedness Award at the Georgia Healthcare Association’s Winter Conference held Jan. 22.

Nominations for the award were solicited from across the state, and many experienced candidates submitted information for review. Murphy was recognized for his outstanding efforts in nursing home emergency preparedness and response, as well as his knowledge and leadership in the event of disruptive events.

The ceremony took place during the “Stars of Long Term Care” segment at the GHCA event.

“We are fortunate to have such an accomplished and well-respected emergency response professional at our facility,” said Norma Jean Morgan, CEO of Effingham Health System. "We always hope we won’t be faced with an emergency, but it’s good to have Mike Murphy leading our team if such an effort is needed.”
