Derrick T. Mydell has been promoted to the rank of technical sergeant in the U.S. Air National Guard.

Mydell is currently serving as an accounting liaison technician with 165th Airlift Wing, Savannah Air National Guard Base. He has served in the military for nine years.

He is the son of Perry Sr. and Mildred A. Mydell of Rincon.

Mydell is a 2000 graduate of Abundant Life Academy in Hardeeville, S.C.
