Retired officers group installs new leaders

The Savannah Chapter of the Military Officers Association (SAMOA) installed its new officers for 2009-10 at a Jan. 16 dinner at the Carey Hilliard’s on Abercorn Street.

Sworn in were retired Army Maj. Joe Crews as president, retired Army CW4 Dave Richards as first vice president, retired Navy Lt. Larry Spears as second vice president, retired Army Col. Ken Seymour as treasurer and retired Army Col. Larry Colby as secretary.

“Our local chapter members are proud of their patriotic service to their country and we welcome guests and potential members to our monthly meetings,” said Crews, a Rincon resident.

MOAA is the nation’s leading association for military officers, with nearly 380,000 members. Membership is open to active duty officers and warrant officers, Reserves and National Guard, plus former or retired officers and warrant officers, and surviving spouses. The Savannah Chapter is one of 425 MOAA chapters around the U.S. and overseas. The local chapter was founded in 1963.
