The Springfield Merchants Association held its initial Second Saturday, offering free hot dogs and soft drinks to passers-by.
The group plans to hold the event every month except for October, when it stages the first Springfield Fall Fest from Oct. 12-13, and April, during Olde Effingham Days.
A concert with Keith Gay will kick off the Fall Fest at 7 p.m. on Oct. 12. The Saturday entertainment will include Dayspring Reliance, Gary Byrd and the Troublemakers and Thomas Claxton and The Myth. For more, visit springfieldfallfestival.com.
