Sponsored by Springfield United Methodist Church, Troop 295 in Guyton has produced 12 Eagle Scouts in 2010, breaking an all time record.

The most boys receiving their Eagle Scout award in one year has been only eight. Troop 16 at Blessed Sacrament in 1939, Troop 332 in Statesboro in 1989 and Troop 876 on Wilmington Island during 1997 each had reached that mark.

Projects have ranged from gathering firewood for local elderly residents, to improving playgrounds for children, to designating a walking trail at Marlow Elementary and building wheel chair ramps for two different local families. They also have included installing a new church bell for Rincon Baptist Temple and building a corral for horses that are used for veterans.

Combined, Jacob Blackburn, Justin Copeland, Jackson Corbin, Richard Daiss, Travis Daiss, Garrett Dunence, Zachary Floyd, David Richardson, Daniel Partain, Jason Piche, Kyle Piche and Jonathan Wise worked 3,311 hours on their Eagle Scout projects, with a total cost of $17,941.69.
