YMCA surpasses campaign goal

The Effingham County YMCA branch raised $65,075 in its annual campaign, exceeding its goal of $58,000.

Results of the YMCA’s campaign were announced at the YMCA of Coastal Georgia’s 159th annual meeting last month. Coastal Georgia Ys raised $652,108, which allows children to take part in after-school activities, families to reconnect and grow together and give people access to training and education.

Joyce Eason, Michael Garvin, Reggie Loper and Lonnie Pate have been added to the Effingham YMCA’s board of management.

In 2013, the YMCA of Coastal Georgia provided the communities it served with a total community benefit of $3,123,077. This includes direct financial assistance provided to over 22,000 people who otherwise would not have been able to enjoy YMCA programs or memberships.

The incoming corporate board of directors elected new or returning are: Judge Mary Kathryn Moss, Leo Beckmann, Wayne Bland, Gary Davis, Lt. Col. William Bowman, Tamala Fulton, Diana Morrison, Al Pace, Dave Pearl, Steven Price and Ryan Schneider.
