Authorities said Friday afternoon that rescue teams have discovered three bodies in the wreckage of the Imperial Sugar refinery in Port Wentworth following a massive explosion and fire there Thursday night.

Another three workers remain unaccounted for.

Around 100 people were working in the refinery when the blast occurred. Nearly three dozen people were taken to Savannah hospitals for severe burns and about 18 were eventually transferred to the Still Burn Center at Doctors Hospital in Augusta.

At one point, officials estimated there were 17 workers unaccounted for following last night's blast.
