Rincon City Council voted unanimously to dismiss Police Chief Michael Berry and another officer Wednesday night for failure to carry out directives issued by the mayor and council.

Berry had been on the job less than six months, replacing Chief David Schofield, who had retired.

Council members were in executive session for almost two hours Wednesday night, following a marathon session Monday night that lasted until almost 3:30 a.m.

Also relieved of duty Wednesday night was Detective Scott Collins.
