The Effingham County One-Stop Center will have a grand opening Wednesday from 10:30-11:30 a.m.

Coastal Workforce Investment Board and the Georgia Department of Labor are partnering to expand their service network by creating a new One-Stop Center in Effingham County.

The CWIB has been working on a location for the One-Stop Center for a few years, board member Michael King said. The center opened last week and it offers job training, career counseling and skills assessment. It also identifies training needs for employers.

The One-Stop Center will be located in the Effingham County Annex at 768 Highway 119 South in Springfield. Initially, it will be open two days a week, King said, until they can judge how much demand there is.

“Our research shows there will be a demand,” he said.

This new office will provide services that include: educational and training services, access to support services, personal employment services, local and national job listings,  resources areas, labor market information, and unemployment insurance services.

The One-Stop Center is part of a continued effort by the Coastal Workforce Investment Board and the Georgia Department of Labor to work together to provide a high quality workforce for companies in Effingham County and the Coastal Region.
