As part of its Small Business Success Series, the Effingham County Chamber of Commerce is partnering with representatives of the University of Georgia and Georgia Southern University Small Business Development Centers to bring a Quick Books seminar to local businesses in Effingham County.

“Quick Books is one the most popular software programs for entrepreneurs today and is used by small business owners more than any other,” Scott Hinson, chairman of the Chamber’s Entrepreneur Friendly Task Force said. “We think this training will be especially helpful for our members and others who manage their business’ day-to-day operations.” The hands on workshop will be held Oct. 16 from 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m. at Effingham County High School. Participants will be working from computer workstations at one of the school’s computer labs, in room 306.

Registration is $149  ($99 for Chamber members) and includes all course materials and a boxed lunch. Effingham Chamber members save $50. RSVP by Oct. 13.

To register, call the Small Business Development Center (SBDC) at (912) 651-3200.

“This seminar will not only offer the fundamentals of Quick Books, it will also show you how to set up accounts, customers and vendors for a new company. You will also learn how to invoice customers, deposit funds and generate meaningful financial reports. Basic accounting principles will also be discussed. I you want to develop reports that give you up-to-the minute financial data and a competitive edge, you will want to attend this seminar,” Hinson said.

Lori Durden of the SBDC at Georgia Southern University will be the instructor.
