A workshop entitled “Starting a Business” will be held Sept. 11. It is a three-hour class that begins at 6 p.m.

If you are considering starting a small business, then this workshop is a crucial first step. Topics for discussion include the traits of successful entrepreneurs, market research, legal structures for your business, estimating start-up costs and cash flow projection, financing alternatives, failure factors, and business planning.

Since lack of planning is one of the top reasons new businesses fail, attending this comprehensive workshop may be one of the most important decisions you make prior to opening your business.

A detailed business start-up workbook and other handouts are provided.

The workshop will be held at the Small Business Resource Center, 111 E. Liberty St., in Savannah. The cost is $69 per person, which includes the cost of class materials. Special pricing is available for two or more people attending together.

The workshop is co-sponsored by the University of Georgia Small Business Development Center and SCORE, Counselors to America’s Small Business.

A prepaid registration is required no later than the Friday preceding the class.  To register and pay by credit card, go to www.savannahsbdc.org. For further information or questions, contact The University of Georgia SBDC at (912) 651-3200.
