Candidates qualify for Rincon City Council races
Election

RINCON -- Mayor Ken Lee has qualified to run for re-election to  the Rincon City Council.

No one else has qualified for the mayoral post but Kevin Exley recently announced that he intends to challenge Lee.

Lee has been Rincon's mayor since 2005. He defeated Christi Ricker in his last race in 2017.

Incumbent Freddy Long, Paul Wendelken and Ben Blackwell have qualified to run for council seats. Wendelken, an incumbent at the time, was edged out in a four-way race for three seats in 2019.

Blackwell was recently appointed to fill the term of Ann Daniel, who resigned in June.

Damon Rahn, a member of the Effingham County Industrial Development Authority, announced last month that he also intends to enter the race.
