Commissioners OK trash deal with Atlantic Waste

SPRINGFIELD — The Effingham County Board of Commissioners has taken a step toward tidying up its residential trash collection contract. During its Nov. 7 meeting, the board approved a five-year pact with Atlantic Waste Services of Pooler. Atlantic will take over for Republic Services on Feb. 19, 2018.

Guyton Woman Charged with Murder in Husband’s Death

A Guyton woman has been charged with murder in her husband’s death after police found him dead Tuesday at a Pine Street home. Jennifer Underwood was arrested, and authorities said the case remains under investigation.
