Commissioners plan to hold the line on taxes

SPRINGFIELD -- The Effingham County Board of Commissioners has announced the proposed FY2019 budget.

In 2018, there will be no property tax increases. The county will maintain its existing millage rate.

The total General Fund for the FY2019 is $28.7 million; the Special Fund and Capital Funds total $56.8 Million.

Under the guidance of the Board of Commissioners, County Administrator Steve Davis worked with his staff, to create a budget that reflects a commitment to public  safety and the citizens of Effingham County.

Effingham County will increase or maintain the levels of operating service consistent with the growth of the community.

Some of the budgetary highlights include 30 road construction projects, 33 new positions and new, updated equipment for public safety, as well as completing the new recreation facility at Morgan Park.

The proposed FY2019 budget is available at the lobby of the Administration Offices of the Board of Commissioners or you can view on the county website at www.effinghamcounty.org

The county will hold two public meetings on June 5 and June 19 at 5 p.m. in the Board of Commissioners meeting room.
