Concerted Services taking cooling bill help signups

Concerted Services, Inc., is accepting applications from eligible households who need assistance with cooling bills. Eligible individuals and families may apply for the Low Income Energy Assistance Program beginning Oct. 1.

Applicants must bring a copy of their most recent energy bill, proof of household income, proof of valid social security numbers for all household members or proof of citizenship. Applications will be accepted on a first come first serve basis.

Beginning Oct. 1 interested individuals may call Effingham Concerted Services, Inc. at 754-6910, or visit their office at 304 Highway 119 to make an appointment.

A Guyton woman has been charged with murder in her husband’s death after police found him dead Tuesday at a Pine Street home. Jennifer Underwood was arrested, and authorities said the case remains under investigation.
