Effingham County Sheriff's deputies arrested a suspected carjacker at a home in Clyo early Wednesday afternoon.

Jerald Lavon Allen was taken into custody after investigators arrested him at a Marion Avenue residence and is currently being held at the Effingham County Jail. 

Allen is said to have used a handgun and taken a car in Jasper County, S.C., on Monday night. Jasper County authorities issued a be on the lookout advisory, and Clyo area residents reported a suspicious-looking vehicle this morning. Deputies confirmed that car was the one that had been reported to be carjacked the night before.
