A man on parole led Effingham County Sheriff’s deputies on a high speed pursuit early Tuesday morning as he was the target of a drug operation.

The Effingham County Sheriff’s Office Drug Suppression Team received information that the suspect, Mickey Joyner, 32, of Springfield, was picking up pseudoephedrine and taking it to another location to cook methamphetamine.

According to ECSO reports, once investigators observed Joyner pick the pseudoephedrine up, marked patrol vehicles attempted an investigative stop on Joyner’s vehicle. Joyner fled from deputies at a high rate of speed down Highway 21 and Springfield Egypt Road. The chase ended after his car crashed into a tree.

Joyner has been charged with unlawful possession of pseudoephedrine, possession of methamphetamine, fleeing and attempting to elude a law enforcement officer, reckless driving, and obstruction of a law enforcement officer. Joyner was out on parole for manufacturing methamphetamine.

He is currently being held in the Effingham County Jail.
