Two men and one woman are in the Effingham County Jail, arrested after months of investigation, according to the Effingham County Sheriff’s Office.

The ECSO drug unit, the Chatham-Savannah Counter Narcotics Team and the Bulloch County Sheriff’s Office drug unit conducted the investigation, which also resulted in the confiscation of two firearms, cash, prescription drugs and a large amount of methamphetamine/ice.

The investigation began several months ago, with information received by Effingham County, CNT and Bulloch County. Agents from these agencies began the process of validating the information and realized that the other agencies involved had similar information provided to them which was independent of each other, according to the ECSO.  By working the case as a joint operation, agents were able to compile enough independent information to obtain search warrants which lead to the arrests and confiscation of the drugs.

Two men and one woman were arrested and charged with trafficking methamphetamine, possession with intent to distribute opiates, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, possession of a firearm by convicted felon and the driver was charged with aggravated assault on a peace office.

The suspects were apprehended as the result of a traffic stop, which resulted in a short chase off Old River Road in which the driver of the vehicle attempted to strike several deputies with the vehicle. There were no injuries reported. They were found to be in possession of 1.37 pounds of methamphetamine/Ice with an estimated street value of $100,000, two firearms and one thousand dollars in cash.

The suspects are being held at Effingham county jail without bond. The investigation is ongoing.
