Investigators are looking for the driver who critically injured a pedestrian in a hit-and-run Friday night in Faulkville.
A woman was crossing Highway 80 near Pine View Drive around 8 p.m. and a car “hit her head-on,” according to Effingham County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Detective David Ehsanipoor.
Barbara Jean Fail, 67, of Bloomingdale suffered "life-threatening injuries" and was flown by Life Star helicopter to Memorial Health University Medical Center, Ehsanipoor said.
Witnesses have described the car that hit the woman as white or gray, and possibly a Mustang or Honda. The driver left the scene, driving west toward Bryan County.
“The vehicle should have front-end damage and also be missing a windshield wiper,” Ehsanipoor said.
The hit-and-run shut down all lanes of Highway 80 near Pine View Drive as the ECSO and Georgia State Patrol investigated and Life Star responded.
Anyone who has information or who might have seen anything suspicious in that area is asked to call the Georgia State Patrol at 754-1180 or Effingham County Sheriff’s Office at 754-3349.
