A family on its way back to Bryan County called deputies from Interstate 16 about a dispute that took place in their vehicle. They said they had been drinking and the mother got into an argument with her son. Her son shoved her in the chest and after the vehicle pulled over, he got out and left on foot. As they resumed their trip, the vehicle broke down.

Burglary - first degree
Deputies responded to a Clyo home after a woman returned to her residence after being in New Orleans for nearly two months and discovered her house had been broken into and her television set was gone. Her nephew was supposed to check on her house, and he said he last did that a week before. He drove around the house and looked at the doors. Spider webs on the storm door handled indicated the break-in had occurred some time ago, and it appeared someone had opened every drawer in the house.

Harassment
A driver called deputies to say her husband was following her and driving recklessly in an effort to get her to stop. He said he was following his wife because he suspected her of infidelity. She said he was mad because she filed for divorce. She told deputies her husband followed her for an extended period of time, getting close to the back of her car and getting in front of her, slamming on the brakes in order to get her to stop. She said she wouldn’t because she was afraid of him when he is this way. She said she just wanted to go to a friend’s house without him following her so she could get some sleep.

Simple battery - family violence
A man told deputies his brother’s ex-girlfriend came by the brother’s house. She pushed a window air conditioning unit onto the living room floor. She yelled at her ex and demanded he let her stay with him. She later went out the back door and pushed over a motorcycle. The brother and his ex have a child together but are no longer involved in a relationship. The brother also said his ex appeared to be under the influence but of what he was not sure. She also slapped him in the face and left with their child. Two women in the house at the time said they saw the ex-girlfriend push the air conditioning unit out of the window and heard arguing, but they did not witness any slapping or the motorcycle being pushed over.

A Guyton woman said a white man had pulled up in front of her trash can, got out of his car with a pistol, walked out of sight and fired one shot. A neighbor said she did not see anything but heard the shot. She saw the man, whose demeanor seemed calm. A deputy observed a cat that had been run over and saw a spent shell casing and that there was a small crater beside the cat’s head where it appeared the projectile landed.

An off-duty deputy spotted a man wanted on a warrant and as a patrol deputy approached, the suspect raised his hands and said he had a pistol under his shirt. The man said he was taking the gun to a friend’s house because it belonged to him.

A man called deputies to report a burglary that may have taken two days before. When asked why he waited so long, he said he was trying to figure out who did it. The complainant appeared drunk and said to deputies, “Yeah, I’m getting drunk.”

Possession of marijuana
A deputy saw a motorist not wearing her seat belt as she came to a stop sign. As he pulled her over, he noticed she shoved something behind her in her vehicle. When she opened her window, the deputy smelled an overwhelming odor of marijuana. The driver was extremely nervous and said her license had been suspended. When asked about the smell, she handed the deputy two small baggies of marijuana. Dispatch told the deputy the woman has a Bryan County warrant for probation violation.

Burglary - second-degree felony
A Guyton area man told deputies someone had broken into three vehicles on his property. The driver side door of his pickup was open and his shotgun was missing. His wallet had been taken from another car. His roommate’s car also had been broken into and the glove compartment had been emptied but nothing was taken.
