Marshals arrest person of interest in Rincon homicide

U.S. Marshals have arrested a man sought by Rincon Police as a person of interest in a homicide.

Chris Todd Lawrey, 45, was arrested at a motel in Marietta, Ohio, late Tuesday night. He was taken to the local jail and is awaiting extradition to Effingham County.

Lawrey was being sought as a person of interest in the death of Linda Shaffer, 60, was found dead in her Rincon home on May 28.

Two men were arrested Tuesday in Eden after a domestic dispute led to a standoff. Deputies say George Driggers, 47, threatened his girlfriend and law enforcement with a gun, then barricaded himself inside a home. His father, Alford Driggers, 80, was also charged for allegedly threatening deputies.
