Domestic Dispute
A man stated that he got into an argument with his girlfriend after she overheard him talking on the phone to his child’s mother. He said that he was making plans to evacuate due to Hurricane Irma, but his girlfriend jumped to conclusions and assumed that he was cheating. She let the air out of his car tires, and he responded by hiding her cell phone and taking a fuse out of her truck. The girlfriend confirmed this story. The two agreed to take some time to cool off and work out their differences. The girlfriend pumped the tires back up, and the man retrieved the cell phone and replaced the fuse. Obstructing or Hindering Law Enforcement Officers; Disorderly Conduct
During the South Effingham High School and Effingham County High School rivalry football game, a crowd was seen forming near the seating area. Members in the crowd began to cuss and fight, while a juvenile and his friend started to walk away. They smelled of marijuana and were subsequently searched by officers, but nothing was found. They were told to go home, and they both left the area. Several minutes later, they returned to gather their belongings. After refusing to leave, they were both arrested. Cruelty to Animals
Abandonment of Domesticated Animal
A woman stated that two nearby tenants had evacuated their residence due to Hurricane Irma and had left three dogs with no food and no water. The woman was given permission to feed the animals, and officers collected them the next day. They were taken to an animal shelter. Outstanding warrants were issued for the two tenants. A man stated that someone had broken into his house at some point during the night. After it was determined that there was no one still in the house, the man discovered that his smart television and his grandfather’s wedding band were missing. Several items that were not his were found in his dresser drawer. including pills, cigarettes and adult movies. His bedroom door had been knocked off its hinges. The man suspects that his father might be behind the crime as he recently kicked him out of his house. The reporting officer was Kristopher Withem.

Theft by Taking- Misdemeanor ($500 or Less)
A man stated that his separated wife used his credit card information to buy a one-year subscription to a dating website. He had previously changed his password and was not entirely sure as to how she obtained the new information. The transaction was for more than $100. The reporting officer was Kristopher Withem.

Sept. 15

Driving while License Withdrawn; Drugs not in Original Container- Misdemeanor
A woman was sighted weaving across the highway late into the evening. A background check revealed that her license was suspended, and she had failed to appear in court. As she explained that she was attempting to get her license fixed, the odor of marijuana was identified in the car. Smoked marijuana and unlabeled prescription pills were found in various places throughout the vehicle. She was not under the influence of any controlled substance, but she was arrested on other charges. The reporting officer was James Thompson.

Burglary- First Degree (Felony)
A female real estate agent advised that one of her listed foreclosed properties had been broken into. She went to the house in the morning to hear something running out of the back door. After it was determined that the house was empty, it was inspected for damage or loss. It was discovered that several items had been overturned and that the door knob to the back door was missing. In addition, three litter boxes with human feces were found near one of the windows. The perpetrators could not be found. The reporting officer was Bradley Brown.

Aggravated Stalking
A woman stated that her brother, whom she has a restraining order against, had recently been served a good behavior bond. However, he had still been going to her house in his log truck and driving up to her while she was in her yard. She had taken pictures of him to prove that he had violated the restraining order. September 15
Vehicle Pursuit
Two passengers in a truck traveling on the interstate were identified as not properly wearing their seatbelts. While attempting to pull them over, officers also noticed one of the vehicle’s brake lights was not working. The truck eventually stopped on an exit ramp but it accelerated suddenly as officers approached it. Officers chased the vehicle for several minutes but eventually lost it due to heavy traffic. Officers in Chatham County spotted the vehicle later and sent an undercover car after it. The truck was followed to a trailer park, but it could not be located. The reporting officer was Deandre Loucks.

Criminal Trespass
A man advised that a suspicious looking vehicle had been parked on the property that he was renovating. He and his co-worker had left the property that evening with no vehicle in sight, but when they returned the next day, a blue Ford Mustang was parked in the front tree line. The driver’s side door had fresh damage, and it was positioned in a way in which it could not be seen from the road. The owner of the property noted that he had not given anyone permission to park there. The owner of the vehicle could not be contacted. The reporting officer was Matt Smith.

Simple Assault- Family Violence
An intoxicated woman stated that her boyfriend was mentally abusing her by sending her nasty text messages. She was loudly screaming at him and wanted him to leave. The boyfriend then stated that the woman was mentally abusing him and that she always gets mad when she drinks. He then agreed to stay at a friend’s house for the night. No Insurance; Registration and License Requirements; Driving while License Suspended or Revoked (Misdemeanor); Failure to Yield Right of Way to Emergency Vehicle
A man in a green truck was identified as having no registration on his vehicle. At first, he refused to pull over for officers and made an abrupt turn into a driveway to get away from them. He then stopped and stated that he had no license. It was also revealed that had previously been arrested for driving under the influence and that he had no insurance. He was later arrested, and his vehicle was picked up by a local wrecker. The reporting officer was Deandre Loucks.

Simple Assault
A woman stated that her intoxicated ex-boyfriend had come to her house and requested that she hand over her child. He had moved out of the residence several eeks prior due to unknown reasons. When he arrived at the house, he was visibly drunk, and an open container was present in his car. He told her that he was not intoxicated, but she still refused to give him her child. He proceeded to become extremely agitated and threatened to physically harm. She asked him to leave, and he complied. He nor his vehicle could be located. The reporting officer was Max Barber.

Battery- Family Violence (First Offence); Cruelty to Children- Allow Child to Witness
A man who had a physical injury above his eye stated that his girlfriend’s brother had punched him during some sort of dispute. The brother walked up as the man was explaining this, and he was detained after it was determined that he had no weapons. The man then explained that he had gotten into a fight with the brother after the brother insisted that a dresser that was infested with roaches be taken into his house. Several other witnesses, including a two-year-old child, supported this story as well as the fact that the brother started the altercation. The brother’s story did not match up with that of the witnesses, and he was arrested. The reporting officer was Dawn Devoss.

Domestic Dispute; Wanted Person-Warrant Service
A man stated that his mother had kicked him out of her house knowing that he had no place to go. He said that she had been arguing with him and his nephew about cleaning the house when she
pulled out a gun. The mother advised that her son was staying at her house after over staying his welcome at a relative’s house. She admitted to arguing with him about cleaning the house and asking him to leave, she denied that she had pulled out a gun. It was soon discovered that the man had two outstanding warrants, and he was swiftly arrested. The reporting officer was Kristopher Withem.

Theft by Receiving Stolen Property- Felony
A couple stated that a man had come into their home demanding to see their children. When they refused his request, the man pulled out a firearm and began to wave it around while arguing. He then left and was later found walking down the road where he informed officers that he had a
concealed weapons permit. He was arrested shortly afterwards. The reporting officer was Christopher Cary.

Burglary — Second Degree (Felony)
A woman stated that her camper had been damaged sometime during the night. Footprints were located around the camper, and the vent was destroyed as if someone had tried to pry it off. The damage totaled to around $125. A neighbor also stated that her flower plant had been knocked over that same night. The woman later checked her security cameras to see if she could spot the perpetrators. The culprit could not be found. The reporting officer was Deandre Loucks.

Injured Person
A woman stated that her four-year-old son had been shot in the early hours of the morning. She was asleep when the gun went off and rushed out of bed to discover that he had accidently shot himself in both feet. He was quickly taken to the hospital. The reporting officer was Bradley Brown.

Complainant
A man stated that he was attacked by his neighbor’s dog while he was doing yard work. The dog had broken free of its chain and chased the man up a tree. Several minutes later, the neighbor came outside and called the dog back. The neighbor later stated that the situation had been blown out of proportion, and the dog would be taken care of. Humane enforcement was notified of the incident. The reporting officer was Deandre Loucks.

Speeding in Excess of Maximum Limits; Reckless Driving
A red vehicle was seen speeding at a rate of 98-mph in a 45-mph zone. The woman in the car stated that she had no legal reason to be traveling at that speed and was simply trying to get to her destination. She was later arrested. The reporting officer was Jason Bragg.

Disorderly Conduct
A man advised that he needed to leave his house or else he would get into a fight with his exgirlfriend over a previous incident. He continually yelled at her and her family as he got his belongings and put them into his truck. As he was leaving the property, he sped out of the driveway and stopped his truck in the middle of the road. He was pulled over for traffic violations and arrested soon afterward. A woman stated that her nephew was attempting to break into her home. She suspected that he was on drugs, and driving a stolen vehicle while looking through a purse. The nephew was attempting to leave the residence but was detained before he could. It was discovered that his license was suspended, and he was on parole. He said that he was simply trying to spend the night at his aunt’s house, but his story began to change multiple times. The full details of the incident could not be determined, but it was revealed that the vehicle had been reported missing, and the nephew had possession of two credit cards that did not belong to him. Loitering or Prowling; Unruly Juvenile; Contributing to Delinquency of Minor-Misdemeanor
A man advised that several male juveniles were walking through peoples’ yards and looking into their cars. A nearby woman stated that she knew the parents of one of the juveniles and that she would take officers to their house. The juvenile’s parents stated that their son was staying at a friend’s house. When the situation was explained, the parents revealed that they had been having problems with their son, who was skipping school and experimenting with drugs. The juvenile was later found committing acts of loitering with an adult male. They were both detained with the adult male stating that he was just trying to smoke a cigarette with the minor, which he did not see as a problem. The adult male was later arrested, while the juvenile was released into the custody of his parents. The reporting officer was Jason Bragg.

Disorderly Conduct
A woman advised that an intoxicated man was attempting to break into her house. She was asleep on her couch when he began to ring to doorbell and knock loudly on the door. The man smelled of alcohol, and it appeared that he urinated his pants. He was swiftly arrested. The reporting officer was Kristopher Withem.

Sept. 18

Driving while License Suspended or Revoked (Misdemeanor); Tag Light Required
A man was spotted driving his vehicle with no tag lights. When an officer pulled him over and requested to see his license, he stated that he had no license because he “does not need a license to travel.” He also handed the officer a stack of papers and stated that he was a sovereign citizen. It was
later discovered that his license was suspended. He was arrested shortly afterwards. It is unknown if he is in fact a sovereign citizen. The reporting officer was William West.
