The Effingham Emergency Management Agency (EEMA) has been monitoring the changes to Hurricane Dorian, which is now a Category 2 hurricane.
EEMA has activated its Emergency Operations Center to Level 2 for extended hours and resource allocation.
Effingham County is under a Tropical Storm Warning: This means tropical storm conditions are possible in the area within the next 36 hours.
Peak wind forecast 25-35mph, gusts up to 45 mph; 2-4 inches of rain; the potential for tornadoes has decreased; but stay tuned to local broadcast outlets for changes in the forecast.
Sandbags are available today at Freedom Park (Ga. Hwy 21 next to Lowe's) in Rincon; limited to 15 per household.
