On April 26, 2017 at approximately 9:30 p.m., the Effingham County Sheriff’s Office began receiving complaints, referencing a rumor that a shooting incident was to occur today at South Effingham High School. Sheriff Jimmy McDuffie worked with School Administrators and numerous investigators throughout the night into following day to dispel the rumors. As we discovered that there was no credible threat, law enforcement presence was increased at both South/North Effingham High and Middle Schools as a precautionary measure.
