RINCON — The Effingham County Empty Stocking Fund recently started accepting donations for its 28th annual campaign to assist needy community members during the holidays.

Contributions are used to fulfill Christmas wishes for children and to purchase food, clothing and medicine for entire families.

Effingham County Commissioner Reggie Loper, co-chair, said the program is calling on Effingham County residents to support the fund to help families with their needs to ensure happy faces at Christmas.

“It has been a difficult time for many families who need our help more than ever,” Loper said. “We want to encourage all citizens to remember this as we call on them for their contributions.”
