Exchange Club honors Loper

Reggie Loper accompanied by his wife, Sherry, was presented the Exchange Club’s most prestigious award, the Book of Golden Deeds, by club member Ruth Lee.

Reggie Loper was recently presented the Book of Golden Deeds by the Effingham Exchange Club.

The award is given periodically by the club to a person chosen for outstanding service to the community.

The presentation to Loper was made in recognition for his outstanding leadership over the years to the club’s annual Empty Stocking Drive.

Presenter Ruth Lee said Loper’s leadership and work with this program is the primary area of recognition although he is actively involved in other programs of the club such as: The Quick Think program for the county’s second graders.

The award was presented to Loper recently at the close of the 11 a.m. mass at St. Boniface Catholic Church, where Loper serves on the church council.

The Rev. Lon Maurice Harden has been named the 2025 recipient of the John Adam Treutlen Award, the highest honor from the Effingham County Chamber of Commerce. A Marine Corps veteran, longtime pastor of Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church and dedicated community leader, Harden was recognized for his decades of service, spiritual leadership and civic involvement across Effingham County.
