Questions on the Georgia Powewr upgrades, outages

• Residential customers with questions may call 1-888-660-5890.

• Business customers with questions may call 1-888-655-5888.

Georgia Power will continue the upgrade to its electrical system in Effingham County in preparation for future growth. Outages in certain areas will be necessary to conduct the upgrades.

The upgrades will begin Sept. 15 and conclude the first week of November. The fall conversion will consist of 10 steps as compared to 22 steps in the spring. With fewer steps and upgrade dates, there will be fewer customers to be affected in the fall.

All customers affected by the fall conversion upgrade project will receive notification by mail regarding the date of their outage. All customers will receive automated phone messages one to two days before their scheduled outage day. These automated messages will go to the phone number listed on their Georgia Power account so the letter or postcard they receive will encourage them to make sure their phone number is correct.

The first step is Sept. 15, with the outage beginning at 9 a.m. and lasting up to eight hours. The affected area will be Little McCall Road from southeast of Highway 119 to just west of McCall Road, and Courthouse Road from Little McCall Road to just north of Eagle Road.
