Golfers play a round for Habitat

The Sea Grill restaurant in Port Wentworth sponsored a fundraising golf tournament for the Habitat for Humanity of Effingham County on April 4 and raised $4,790.

Ron Howard, Tommy Hill, Randy Hill and Jim Willis were the winning team. The money raised will go to Habitat’s Bankers Build project.

The Rev. Lon Maurice Harden has been named the 2025 recipient of the John Adam Treutlen Award, the highest honor from the Effingham County Chamber of Commerce. A Marine Corps veteran, longtime pastor of Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church and dedicated community leader, Harden was recognized for his decades of service, spiritual leadership and civic involvement across Effingham County.
